ultra sound???

i'm going through the public system again, but i'd like an extra ultra sound this week through a private doctor.

does anyone know a "cheaper" doctor that i could go to to have it done and roughly the cost?

also, how far in advance would i need to make an appointment?

I've seen a doctor in Mong Kok through 2 m/cs and the first trimester of this pregnancy. He does a vaginal ultrasound in the early weeks and charges have never exceeded 400$. Making an appointment has never been a problem either.

hi cara,

i used a private oby in central. i used to pay $500 for a consultation inc. an u/s + printout. she doesn't have a fancy 3/4d machine though, just an ordinary one. her practice is fairly no frills aswell. if you leave your email i can send you her contact details.

Yes Cara, the price I quoted is including consultation+ultrasound and even any vitamins he prescribes. He also gives you a printout of the scan.

Wouldn't it be better to wait a few more weeks if you want to find out the sex though ?

my problem is that i was asked to take part in a study with my first and had about 10 ultrasounds throughout my pregnancy. i always had the assurance that everything was going well.

the last u/s i had with this pregnancy was 6 weeks ago. my next one is not scheduled until 2nd week of october.

at the gov't u/s it's so fast and just checking everything is ok with no prinout or anything. (if you go to tsan yuk you need to pay $260 for 1 little picture). i'm not having my scans done there because i'm a high risk pregnancy and i only have appts at QMH.

at 12 weeks the accuracy of gender detection is about 70%, i think i read. at 20 weeks its 100%.

so by the time i can actually get an appt, i'll be closer to 16 weeks, so they should be able to tell me accurately if it's a girl or boy.


i'm getting annoyed with the dr's i've been phoning.they keep changing the prices on me. they quote me one price hten when i confer with hubby and call back they quote me a different price.
