UK law on child restraints - can I use a baby bjorn?

No, you can't use a baby bjorn. The reason it details type of car seat only is because you have to use the type of car seat that is suitable for the age of your child. The website you mentioned has detailed info as to which car seat is suitable for which age group/ weight of child.

If you are hiring a car you will be able to hire the car seat, and if you take taxis in the UK (at least where I come from) you can call and request one with a car seat.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you are confused by my answer or are unsure of the appropriate car seat.

Thanks Angie. Answer is clear. We need to buy another car seat in the UK for my son as he has grown out of his newborn one and I was hoping to be able to just use the baby bjorn for the few journeys until we bought one. Was hoping "appropriate restraint" may also include the bjorn.
