Time for a fertility specialist?

Hi Tutor1, have PMed you re: OPKs

MickeyMom, fingers crossed for your appt tmrw - let me know how the tube test went as I think I will be sent to that too eventually.

MayC, good luck with a sperm test next week.

Has anyone ever had (or heard of) infertility related to thyroid problems, by the way?

went well. i was given antibiotics and pain medication half an hour before the procedure and was told to expect some menstrual cramp like pain. I went to a diagnostic laboratory also at Queen's Road (Melbourne Plaza) for the procedure. Paid $2000 for it. Felt a little discomfort during the procedure (nurses say i have an amazing tolerance for pain!), and in half an hour they were able to send the result to Dr. Lo. I am clear so blocked tubes is not a problem.

MayC, tell me about it, I couldn't believe my eyes. The consultation cost $800 and the U/S $800 as well but it was all the other tests! They are running like 20 tests and each is $400 - $600.

I just found out I may be able to get 50% of this back from my insurance company thank God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Loads of Baby Dust to all....

when i went to dr. lo aug 17, i was already expecting my period because of the symptoms. he did the ultra-sound and saw that my cervical wall lining is already thick. signs on impending period. so i knew then. got my period aug 20.

Hi MickeyMom,

Good to hear it all went well. Wow that's amazing about how little pain you felt! And at least you know the little embryos can travel freely so that's great news.

What other tests have you had done so far? What did the doc say were the next steps for you?

Anyway, you have one big hurdle crossed, so treat yourself to something and have a nice weekend.:bighug

hi brightstar,
thanks a lot for the kind wishes!
dr lo and I agreed on trying it naturally for at least 3-6 more months. I am 33 this year so he thinks I still have time. So far, i've done the blood test, urine diagnostics, trans v ultra-sound and the x/ray of the tubes.

Dr asked me to go on a no carb diet, and has given me Metformin to take every night. Hopefully, this helps me with my PCOS.

I will see him again after New Year, and he says, hopefully, pregnant!

he is one sweet, understanding and considerate doctor. I really feel very positive with him.

Hi MickeyMom,

It sounds really positive and I am sure your little one is going to come soon. If I had as many oks as you do, I would probably try to whisk hubby away, get some nice bottles of wine and enjoy the time together. Easier said than done I know, but that's my little thing to add to Dr Ho's expertise.

Wishing you a ton of :babydustpink

Just to give an update, AF arrived this evening.

:treadmill

So it's back for more tests on Tuesday................... to see if there will be any new follicles by then and the FSH levels.

Thanks girls for your support. I know we will all get there soon!

Hi MayC

I went back to the FS today and she said the eggie might have not been strong enough to hang on. She put me on clomid now to grow more follicles (even though I ovulate regularly), she said it will make the eggies strong and with a number of them there will be a higher probability of success.

Do you take anything at all?

Well, I now have to go back next Tue, in the meantime hubby his going to have some of his spermies frozen as he will be out of town during my O. She definitely doesn't waste time!! :yeah2:

The doc told me the results which have come back from Friday have all come back fine - so she said the timing might have been an issue and possibly some hormonal imbalance. She is now testing for another bunch of things...

MayC, have a glass of wine whilst you can - I wish you all the babydust there is, thinking of you and please keep us posted.

Hi Tutor1, have PMed you re: OPKs

Thanks Brightstar. What a great contact.

I have a question for all ladies. I have only just got private insurance which means I don't qualify for a lot of pregnancy related expenses, however I can go through the public system. My question is will doctors (public or private) provide follicle / ovulation stimulating drugs prescriptions and how easy are these to obtain? I did not have any problems falling with my first however as I am constantly told I am of 'advanced maternal age', I would like to have my next relatively quickly. Thank you and perservere everyone. I'm inspired by all your stories.
