Ticket back to Philppines upon expiry of contract

DH's contract is expiring at the end of this week, only today she tells me she doesn't want to renew (we filled out all the forms and she sent them to the consulate last week while I was at the hospital giving birth).

Anyway, she said she has a bad back from carrying my 2 year old daughter and she needs to go back to the Phil to rest. So she wants me to give her cash instead of a plane ticket. Friends tell me not to give her cash and that I have to get her a ticket. Do I have to buy a ticket with a date on it (June 8 is when her visa expires) or an open ticket?
 
Sounds like she may have another job and hence is asking for cash. I would just give her the cash, and make her sign a receipt form.

Sigh, now I have no maid, I had a c-section last Sunday and I have a 2 yaer old toddler at home and the new baby. The other one I was gonna hire didn't work out either.
