I am looking for book recommendations, as my 5 year old is asking for more detail on just how babies get inside of moms. Any books you have that are good for this age group?

There`s an awesome book called `Where Did I Come From?` It`s been around at least since I was a little one. (they also have one called `why was I adopted?`).
I have seen it at Bumps to Babes very recently. It`s in the top left section of the bookshelf. I checked on Amazon too out of my own curiosity.

let us know how it goes! we have been having discussions...each one laying a foundation for the next one.
the kids know the baby comes out the "birth canal" and then they got side tracked and said "like a ship!" and i got disgusted!!!

have fun!!

Babette Cole's Mommy Laid an Egg: Or, Where Do Babies Come From?.

It's irreverent, with really funny illustrations. I'm not sure if this is the book I'd use to talk about the topic with my kids, but I bought it anyway, because it was just downright hilarious!

You can check the reviews of the book at Amazon. There are those who think the book is "just right" for their kids and others who think it's utter rubbish. (I don't know if the local library carries this book, though, because it's been banned from some libraries in the US.)

I agree with Buckeroo 100%

My son is far too young to comprehend it, but the hilarious but honest illustrations and the accuracy (more or less) of the book made me buy it immediately. Not for very conservative parents, I'd say but I'm still yet to find a single (adult) person who doesn't love Mommy Laid an Egg.

Dymocks has it
