terracotta tiles and crawling

Our floor is made of really old terracotta tiles, so they are rock. We have one large throw rug, but the rest is exposed.

What has anyone else done when their baby starts crawling with a similar floor??

My 6 month old is crawling and I didnt expect this so soon! Now I feel like I need to run out and get more rugs or something.

I'm thinking of looking for remnant carpeting...

I heard that there are knee pads for babies....I believe I saw them at Bumps to Babes. Don't know if they work or not.....

I am also looking for something similar. Is there anything that is better looking and of better quality then those styrofoam letters?

I bought a small pack at Japan Home Center. The thing i don't really like about them is they slip on the tiles and they gather so much dust, like static. I have them in one little area where one of my carpets doesnt reach.

I went to look at carpet remnants and they were quite nice but still pretty expensive. I think i will just keep all eyes on her for the moment and let her explore the stone floor very carefully. If she does whack her head or chin it will be trouble. I need to make sure there's nothing on it that slips or she can grab and then fall back onto the tile. And those puzzle pieces are a bit slippy.

I'll still be looking...and woould love any more suggestions
