Hi dimsum mum, when did you do your IVF and were you successful on your first attempt? How many embryos did you put back? How old were you when you did IVF?.........sorry to have so many questions, but if you don't mind sharing with us, it would definitely give us positive attitude that it will also work for us too!

Hi! I had my appointment and I am a little sad. My doctor said I have 3 follicles on the right and 5 on the left, though still small sizes. On the other hand my result of blood test are not very satisfactory, the hormons are still low level. So we continue two more days with the injections and see the doctor on Saturday (Saturday morning I should do another blood test). In this case maybe on 15-16th od March will be the ER. I don't know, I felt so disappointed of my body and of other thing. First, the doctor didn't say or explain very much. After, the receptionist tried to fix the appointment on Saturday 13 o'clock and I insisted telling her that in case I should taxe other medication it will be too late. She continued to say that in the morning I must have the blood test but I answered to her that this morning I've had my blood test at 7,30 and at 11 o'clock the results were ready. So, after all, we fixed an appointment earlier. I don't understant how are they thinking. We make an effort, not only phisycal but also in terms of costs. So when you have an IVF to do, must be everything fixed, you must prevent some situations. You cannot change the hours because the doctor has many patients when you have some procedures requiring a continuity and stable schedule. Anyway, is not a very good day....sorry girls

HKiegal - I did my first ivf attempt in 2001. It was successful. That was after 18 months of clomid and an unsuccessful IUI.
My second, third and fourth IVF's were not successful. My last IVF was successful as well. I was hospitalised with OHSS on that IVF.
I was 31 and 33 when I did my IVF's. THere was no geobaby back then, and so i was on a message board with other ladies undergoing ART treatment and we still have google groups and I read the RESOLVE and INCIID boards, which is how i keep current on what is happening in the IVF world.
Adrianna, I am glad your clinic is taking E2 levels. I can see why you are disappointed, you have so much invested in this cycle, but the very good news is, it is still early days, the follicles are still small, there is no one dominant follicle, and so there is plenty of time to adjust hormone levels. They are going to keep a careful eye on your hormone levels from now on.
You are right, IVF is a huge financial and time commitment. And it does get very emotional, and it certainly doesn't help when your body is being pumped full of hormones either. Please don't apologise for having a bad day, we've been there. And venting helps. I am glad the appointment was set for earlier in the day after all that stress.

Adrianna, I'm sorry that you are upset about your results, don't worry too much now, having 8 follicles all together is not bad, don't concentrate too much on the numbers. I am sure the doctor knows what is best for your body and she adjust the meds accordingly.

Dimsum mum thank you again! You're right but when you don't know many things should be the doctor responsability to explain. She gave me the same Gonal 450 F 450 IU and the other injection. So, we just continue, she didn't adjust or change my medication. I just don't know, I really hope not to loose the moment.
Thank you hkiegal! How you manage to have ER without your husband? They said to me that on ER day must be someone with me to sign the papers for the intervention (because of general anaesthesia). Plus, he must give fresh sperm on the same day.

We were using frozen sperm sample from my husband, he couldn't make it back on time to give a fresh sample, maybe that also compromised the quality of it too. When we did IUI back in Oct last yr, my hubby's morphology on the day of the IUI was only 1%. This time round, doctor said his sperm was also not great, after ICSI, i think the morphology was 4%.

Just wanted to wish you all luck with your cycles and to say that I'm glad to see such an active IVF thread. It's nice to be able to vent in your own time zone. I hope you will draw some inspiration (especially for those of you that are told that you are "old") from the fact that I had my two IVF babies when I was 40 and 43. I have had one successful fresh cycle, one successful FET and a failed fresh cycle and a failed frozen cycle.

Hi iolana, welcome on our thread. We just need these stories like yours and thank you sharing your experience with us. I will continue to share mine, which is completely new for me. So, sometimes maybe seems stupid to ask some questions or to feel in same particular way , but it's very helpful having you here with your day by day lives, stories and experiences. Thank you.

Hi everyone. Adrianna - you're going to see the doctor tomorrow morning? I hope it goes well. You know that they delayed my ER as well because things weren't developing fast enough - quite slow indeed. I was on Gonal 300 for most of the time but 450 for almost another week longer than anticipated. Now, for my FET, my body isn't responding as predicted either. I was going to have it on the 16th but my uterus lining isn't thick enough so now I have to stay on the medication for another four days. Hopefully it will make it better and I will then have the FET on the 19th. I think it just varies for different people but with the ER it all worked out in the end and I had good eggs retrieved so try not to worry.
MayC, I think the delay will be with drug-controlled cycle only, not if you are doing a natural cycle. I imagine that with the natural cycle then they will do the ET after ovulation but because ovulation is not under the doctor's control then they will have to do it when your body decides. With me, I am taking drugs - hormone replacement therapy - to simulate a cycle but the doctor can decide when I "ovulate" (although no eggs are being produced so no real ovulation). Because my uterus lining is too thin then he is keeping me on the drugs until he decides the time is right. You won't have the same problems on the natural cycle because it is your body doing everything, not artificial drugs, so your body will prepare itself properly.
My doctor was also saying that being in the right frame of mind is important, so I second you when you say - chin up! It will all work out for us, just sometimes takes a little longer than we would like!

Hi MayC and Liquorice, did you do a HPT before the blood test? On which day did you do it?...........My 1st week is finally over, another week to go, but I am so tempted to test before next sat!!

Hkiegal - I never had a blood test, they told me to do a HPT only. I was meant to do it on the Friday morning but I bought two and did one on Thursday morning as well. The reason I was supposed to wait until Friday, as I understand, is that the supporting injections they gave can induce a false positive so they wanted to make sure that it was all out of my system before the test. I took the test on Thursday because if it was negative I just wanted to get it over with. And it was....sigh. Are you having injections during the 2 ww?
Hi girls. I had today my blood test and ultrasound. It seems ok, I have 3-4 follicles on the right and 5 (smaller size) on the left. So, they scheduled me for ER on Monday. This evening, at 11 p.m. I'll go to the HKSH to have the final injection (I don't know how to call it). Tomorrow I start the antibiotics for 3 days and...that's it. After, they will let me know when will be the ET.
