symptoms

Hi hkigal. Sadly I took my pregnancy test this morning and it was negative. Very disappointing obviously. Especially because I thought that I had the perfect conditions - calm, relaxed, did everything right. Also, I was taking a lot of progesterone which mimicks pregnancy symptoms so I was pretty convinced it had worked. A bit of a tearful day so far (being still stuffed full of hormones doesn't help) but looking onwards and upwards. Spoke to my doctor and will do an FET before end of March.

Here we go again.....

I am so sorry to hear your news Liquorice, my heart goes to you.

But you are right, don't give up hope, we are all here to support each other!!!!

Take lots of rest now and best of luck in your next FET!!!!

MayC I am with you and all our friends here. Supporting each other is a great thing. I am 40 years old this year (on May) and we don't have other children. We are both healthy but...they didn't come. So this is our last chance... I understand you perfectly when we tell us about friends who are having children those days. Here I have a young friend who is pregnant, other one who had the 4-th child and so on. I am happy for them but everytime I hear or see a pregnant women the tears come to my eyes. Seeing young people try once or twice and after that "wop", just like this, being pregnant makes me feel useless at my age. I have faith and now that we are, in a certain way, together in this we will bring luck to each other. So, don't give up!When everything will be ok I buy the champaigne!

Hope we all strike the jackpot together and I will fly back to HK to celebrate with you girls!!

Lots of babydust and best of luck to us all!! :)

Yes, good luck to all of us. I'm sure it will happen eventually, just tough with everything we have to do to get there.

Just a short update, went for another scan yesterday, blood tests all looked good, according to the doctor, left ovary has 5-7 follicles and right side has a little more, all of the them roughly the same size, (though he didn't mention how big they were), now I have cut down my Gonal F to 150IU for today and monday. ET is now scheduled on wed morning at 8am, so need to go back to clinic to collect the trigger shot and inject it on monday night at 8pm.

I asked his opinions on 3 or 5 day transfer, he said it is usually 3 days here in singapore, well, let's see now, I am getting closer and closer to see if all that I have gone through will pay off in the end!!!!

MayC & Liquorice, when will you go for you next cycle of FET?

Adrianna, has your AF come yet?

Thinking of all of you here, and hoping we all get lucky!!! :)

Good luck hkiegal! My AF hasn't come yet. I've drunk herbal tea, a glass of red wine, etc. I cannot resist anymore, waiting and waiting. It's on time anyway, but being in Guangzhou and having to plan my departure and, eventually, booking a night in a HK hotel, I'm only stressed by this (for now). A big hug to you, to MayC & Liquorice!
A kiss to dimsum mom who I didn't read these days...

Thank you MayC. When I wil come to HK I will buy the vitamins you tell me about. I will start the injections and I will take the vitamins. Have you done by yourself the hormonal injections? It is easy to do so?

Hi MayC,

I have just started the hormones for the FET today. I called the clinic this morning to tell them that my period had started, as requested, and they asked me to start the drugs immediately. You can do it without any drugs, just on a natural cycle, but my cycle is usually all over the place so my doctor wanted to control it. I am taking HRT (hormone replacement therapy) which I always thought was for menopause so I was a bit surprised. Daily injections at the same time every day and then tablets three times a day at the same time every day. I do this for 12 days, have a scan and then they will do the embryo transfer 3.5 days later. Not sure what they are scanning for since I think the hormones are supposed to repress egg development. Maybe they are looking for how thick the uterus lining is? I didn't get to speak to the doctor today so not all my questions are answered. I will need to continue taking the tablets 3 times a day until the pregnancy test. Plus all of the progesterone support I took last time. I haven't had a break since my first round of IVF so I think after this I will take a few months off before I consider what to do next as I will need to give my body a break from all of these hormones.

The good news is that it will cost around HK$13k. Cheaper than I thought.

Adrianna, I personally found the injections quite easy. I was worred at first but got used to it very quickly. They are subcutaneous (into the skin/fat not muscle or vein) so you can just stick them in your belly. They didn't really hurt me that much so I didn't mind doing them at all. Just be careful when you are doing some of the really important ones - like the ovulation trigger injection which needs to be done at a specified time. While I was doing mine I dropped the saline solution on the floor, the bottle smashed and I lost it all - at 10 o'clock at night. Fortunately I had a spare saline bottle from another type of injection but don't know what I would have done otherwise.

Thank you Liquorice. In that case, I will do the injections by myself too but I thing the really important one maybe I will do it in the hospital 'cause that period of time I will stay stable in Hong-Kong, close to the Sanatorium. I will see.

MayC, I've just come back home, I was to the Mannings but here in Guangzhou they don't have Materna vitamins (as a matter of fact I didn't see anything pre-natal). Plus, everything is in Chinese, very difficult to understand or making yourself understood. So frustrating sometimes...

Good luck with your FET, Liquorice!
hkiegal, good luck in your ET. All the best and many, many...good eggs!
Dear MayC I will do the same with the injections. The first 5 days by myself, after maybe I can get the nurse for this. Today, this late morning, my period came (finally). I called the Sanatorium but I couldn't speak with anyone so I left a message and I wrote an e-mail to the nurses desk and to my doctor. Now I prepare my departure for this evening maybe by the last hour train.
Manning has a Pharmacy section in here too but is full of Chinese medicine and Centrum vitamins. So for now I'll wait and buy in Hong-Kong. I keep post it and good luck to all of us! I just feel we will have our little tiggers this year.A big hug and maybe tomorrow evening hear /read you again...

MayC, I am taking Estrofem tablets which are estrogen - 2 of them 3 times a day - and then Lucrin injections once a day, which I believe are intended to stop ovulation. I stop the injections on day 12 but continue the tablets until the pregnancy test.

Regarding the cost of the FET, the nurse said approximately $13k. I think she said that the clinic cost would be $6k and my doctor's charge $4k. I have paid almost $2k for all of the tablets and the injections. So I guess the other $1k will be for blood tests/progesterone support after the transfer...

Hi all, had my ER this morning, doctor said he retrieved 14 eggs, but quality varies, so he will call me back tomorrow to see how many got fertilized and the quality of them. Hopefully, there should also be some left to freeze too. But he did mention that if the quality is not that good, he might do a 2 day transfer.

Now I am a little worried if the embryos will make it in my womb, also feeling a lot of cramping too, so will rest a lot these few days before the ET.

I know I have all your support out there, so will be positive!!

Hi girls. I've just came back from Hong-Kong. So, I made the day 2 blood test first hour in the morning; after this the doctor saw me (we did an ultrasound, very uncomfortable for the 2nd day of the period), said it's a normal situation for my age and gave me the injections for the first 5 days. The nurse taught me how to do and , you've all right, I think it's quite easy (at least these at the beginning). I asked about blastocyst and my doctor said that probably will be a day 3 transfer, because maybe at my age I will not produce such a high number of eggs. I asked about Materna vitamins and she told me to take some folic acid for preparing, cause Materna (like other ones) have more vitamins and some of them could be uncomfortable for me in this period of treatment (can cause to the body some surplus of vitamins). I don't know if you share this opinion, but I wrote it to you just in case.
So, let's hope for the best.

MayC don't regret your decision. I know we are very enthusiastic about this but for me it's the first time and everything's new. You've taken a good and wise decision to give a short break to your body, and try again with more determination and strength. I know you will have what you wait for, I just feel it!

A big hug to everybody.

Hkiegal, I am with you! I was writting my post and I didn't see your message. I understand that the quality varies, but hey, you had 14 eggs! Good job! Imagine what suppose to do the women in Europe where most of the time they make you produce maximum 4 eggs. So, take a good good rest and stay with us for being positive.
A big hug!
