switching from formula to regular milk

For those who bottle fed your babies, when did you switch from formula to regular milk? It seems the general consensus is 12 months, but I've just read in the book 'Baby Love' by Robin Barker that it is OK from 9 months onwards.

Also, once you switched, did you give the milk in the bottle or from a sippy cup?

Thanks.

I am on my second child and from the US and the idea from there is that you switch babies from formula to whole milk at the age of 12 months and not before. It is also recommended that at that time you switch them off the bottle and to a cup (sippy or straw which is preferred). It is pretty painless to make the switch, although it was slightly easier with my daughter than with my son.
