Swimming lessons

Hi all!

Does anyone have suggestions for somewhere for my daughter to get some swimming lessons?

We live in Taikoo Shing and my daughter is 2 yrs 5 months.

:)

There is also a public pool at Sai Wan Ho which has lessons. There is a teacher there called Ms. Wong who teaches. She teaches both group and individual classes at Heng Fa Chuen. I can let you have her number if you are interested.

Does language matter? I was interested in finding lessons for kids 5 and under, but noticed that many of these are taught in Cantonese?? Does it matter?

ESF has 30 minute swimming lessons in English; I think they have facilities in Sha Tin, somewhere else, and South Island School. Children 3-5 are in the Tadpole class. My son has done two 'terms' and has a great time.

At this stage though it is about becoming comfortable in the water. Some of the other children in his class (only four children total) are able to swim underwater short distances; my son can barely manage to put his head under water.

I know the clubs (such as cricket club, football club, american club etc) around Hong Kong will do lessons. they are done in English and even if you are not a member you can ask to join the lesson. It will depend on how full the class is because they need to allow all members in first. If you have a friend who is a member of one they can bring you along as well. Most places will do private lessons but it could be your child and their friend to make it a more comfortable experience.
