Hi All,

We want to take our 3 month old baby girl to the swimming pool, is it too early? We r worried about the chlorine in the water. And r there any baby/mom or dad swimming class for 3 mth old in HK?:baby:

Hi Eva
My little girl is now 14mths and has been going to the swimming pool since she was 3mths. I would have taken her earlier but waited until she had good head and neck control. I'm not sure of swimming classes for 3mths but I know that the YMCA in TST have parent/baby swimming from 6mths. I have never worried about the clorine and it hasn't bothered her at all.

The one thing I suggest is once you take you baby to the pool, try to continue without a break. We had a break of two months in Nov/Dec and she was unsure of the water when we went back. I try to take her at least once a week. She is now so confident that she loves dunking her head under the water herself.

I love spending time with her in the pool and I'm sure you will too. Have fun.

i took my son for the first time when he was only 10 weeks old...

he loves it! (he's now 16.5 months)

Thanks Moms,
So tell me if i'm correct. I put the swimming diaper on her and then just hold her in the pool, do i go underwater with her? Does the diaper leak?

Hi,
More tips please! My son has been in the water since he was ~5 months old, and just recently (@7 months) we've dunked his head under the water as well, several times for just a second. My question is what next? At this stage he still doesn't have full motor control so we're "handling" him alot in the water. Should we just keep dunking him further, and for longer, (sounds cruel though) and he will somehow learn to hold his breath? I guess this is all we could expect until he has more limb control, is that right?

Eva,
We have used the hubbies swim disposables, but ended up getting a washable Kushies nappie from Bumps2Babes as well. In the water now he just wears the Kushies one and no leakage that we're aware of. No ill effects from the chlorine either. Good luck!

There are baby swim classes in HK.
This is one that does cater for younger babies:

For Swim Nappies, we use washable swim nappies - you can get them from doubidou or b2b. They are very cute and easy - just like swimming trunks.

They swim nappies hold in the poo, but not the wee.

Have fun!

crj,

Can you tell me where I can find doubidou or b2b (their addresses or contact #)? I want to check out the wahable swimming nappies.
