Surgery scar reduction

My little one bumped her head last month and got a few stiches. The scar now is red, about an inch long and very visible. I would appreciate it if someone can share their experience about scar reduction. I read on Geoexpat about Gene Essence (GVN Gene) has anyone tried this? Or any other product?

My son bumped his head a few weeks ago, running after the dog and collided with the kitchen door frame. He ended up with stitches at he the Adventist, and was prescribed a silicone gel specifically for scar reduction to be used for the next few months. It's called "Dermatix" topical gel.

Yes I saw Dermatix at the Pharmacy today, wanted to read more about its effectiveness before using it. Was it the surgeon at the Adventist who prescribed it? At the moment using a Mepiform patch given by the Plastic Surgeon.

Geomum, my Ob gave me a box of Mepiform patches after my C-section. I kept one on for a week and then changed it every week for about 2 months. The scar is hardly visible now, 11 months post the c-section.

You can also use Vitamin E on scars, best thing is to get the capsules and prick it with a pin and rub in the oil.

Found that mepiform really worked well for me (i am prone to keloid (raised/bumpy) scar. Plastic surgeon i was referred to said this was better than shop bought silicone strips. He also advised that pressure helps to reduce scar tissue.
