hi ladies,

seeking some info and advice pls... i'm 29 wks preg and my doc only delivers at Matilda where I am still on the waitlist. if worst comes to worst will I be able to just show up at queen mary hospital (I am certain that is my local) without pre-registering or having done any of the the pre-natal with their affiliate clinic--tsan yuk? i've heard from a colleague today that i may need to do some blood work with the clinic otherwise QM wont admit me? is that possible? can a public hospital really deny me admissions? thanks!!

no, they won't turn you away BUT why don't you make an appt, go to tsan yuk for that appt just in case? wouldn't it be better for them to have your med history when you are comfortable and in a good place instead of in the throes of labour?

Also, if your doc only delivers at Matilda it's very, very likely you will get a place, what do they say about it at the docs? Remember that they deal with getting people into Matilda a lot so if they say it's nothing to worry about then it probably isn't, if they aren't sure then yes, why not get yourself in the public system.

Hi

When I was waitlisted, I did a search on this site for some comfort about getting in and remember seeing one lady who got a place in week 30-something. So it can still happen. Did you book in at 9 weeks and have been waitlisted all this time? Matilda is ridiculously busy. Agree with Cara though, better to know you have Queen Mary sorted out as a back up. Which doctor are you with?
