slow teat for avent bottles

we are giving 1 bottle for 1 week old baby at night feeds - but the teat for newborn is too fast and she constantly gets the hiccups which interrupts her sleep. She also needs burping and sometimes gets stomach pains

can anyone recommend slow teat for Avent bottles, or another brand is OK which prevents gas.

I think babies need burping no matter which bottle you use. Mine needs burping even after direct bf. Mine got hiccups too not sure it is related to bottle feed. I use medala bottle for him for some feeds. I noticed he would have a hard time setttling or would spit up if he drinks too much from the bottle so I limit the amount.

I would say that the teat is too fast if your baby would choke, or you see lot of milk dripping from his mouth while drinking.

By the way, the teat #1 for newborn only has one hole. I don't think there would be any teat slower than that. I mainly breastfeed my baby, but he didn't have probleM with his Avent bottles.

If your baby is only 1week old, I would say that the hiccups are very normal. My son used to hiccup tons in utero and also did when he was born, but grew slowly out of it. He was totally breastfed too. I think your baby is just getting used to drinking milk in general.
