should I wake up the baby?

My baby has started to wake up at around 8am (used to be 6/7-ish). We always give him his 'breakfast' first thing he wakes up. Since he is on formula there should be a 4-hour gap between meals so it makes his 5th meal of the day 12 midnight. The baby is already sound asleep by 10pm so sticking to the schedule would mean waking him at 12am.

Tried to give bb milk every 3.5 hours so as to move the time a bit early to 11-ish for the last feed, but he refused to take it (guess he's not hungry).

Should I go ahead and wake him or just let him skip the 5th feed?

BTW, he drinks around 24 ounces a day so skipping the 5th feed would reduce the milk intake to less than 20 ounces.

how old is your baby? i would think if he's sleeping thru, it means he's not hungry. or maybe stick to your 4 hr routine, but at 9.30pm-ish, give him another bottle before he goes down. maybe not a full bttle, but 1/2?

if he is asleep i wouldn't wake him, but I would offer him a bottle right before bed. The bottles do not have to be on a strict schedule of every 4 or 3.5 , or whatever hours. Sometimes it could be 4 hours, sometimes 3, sometimes, 2 depending when the baby is hungry. I would fed the baby when he is hungry, he knows when he needs to eat.

hi mums, thanks for sharing your thoughts. The last 2 days I have tried giving him a bottle when he's asleep. He didn't cry and seem to be happy to be fed. He would take the milk eyes closed and stop when he has enough, then fall back to sleep with a 'smile'!
