Shoes that squeak

Does anyone know where I can buy shoes for my 16 month year old that squeak when he walks?

We've seen them in his Tutor Time class and the helper doesn't know where the mom got them. Would love to find out where!

Thanks!

Uh....please don't. Before we had a baby I would always hear that really annoying squeaking sound when local babies and toddlers were walking around with those shoes on and I said, "Oh, that is so annoying!" (like someone repeatedly squeezing a rubber ducky--like 20-30 times/minute) Then when my son was born and started walking his Chinese grandparents blessed us with a pair--then it became a little cuter--just because he is our son and anything he does (almost) seems pretty cute to us. I read here on Geobaby that those shoes (if they are the proper design and brand) help a baby learn to walk correctly somehow. I say they are still annoying so as soon as we could find another pair of shoes that fit my son well, it was bye bye to the squeak shoes. Anyway...why do you want your child to wear them?

You should be able to find them in large dept. stores such as Wing On or Jusco. Ask the sales person when you get to the shoe section.

i call those shoes a "grandparent's gift".... you know the kind... they think it's cute and it is for the first 1 minute or so, then the cuteness wears off and you are stuck listening to that squeak, while the grandparents get to go home and away from the sound.

ok, yes, yes i can see how it would get slightly annoying after a while, but thought it would be good to keep my little walker walking! thanks everyone!

Please don't get a pair. I can only imagine the phycological damage it must cause a child to 'squeak' every time they walk!

You can get them at the children clothing and shoe shop on Li Yuen East (but could be West, I forgot which one, but they run parallel to each other) Street in Central. As for the "annoying" squeak, you can always take out the squeaker bit if it starts to bother you.

If you took out the squeaker part of the shoes, then why wouldn`t you just buy normal shoes ??

I always thought they were so the parents could keep track of the child.

Andrea, you can take out the squeaker? How? With the ones we had, you'd have to cut 'em open with a knife to get it out which would pretty much ruin the shoes--so there would be little point in buying them in the first place in that case.

My in laws just purchased some for my daughter from Stanley market. They are very cute, but thankfully once I get sick of the noice the squeek is removable. My daughter is walkling along furniture but not yet letting go, so she finds it a real joy to be able to make this noise with her feet. Her walking has already improved, and she is just so proud of herself! They had a pretty big range in Stanley

Oh, by the way MLBW, you can remove the squeek two ways. Firstly you can pull out the whole piece and leave it out. The other option is to pull it out and there is a little white insert in there that can be removed, then you can just replace the actual squeek mechanism so there doesn't look like there is a hole in the heel.

Oh, I see...you must have a totally different pair than the one we were given--the pair we were given--that squeaker is in there and unless you cut the fabric on the inside and surgically remove it, it doesn't come out. Doesn't matter, though, now. Son started walking at 8 months and didn't wear shoes at all at that time as we were in the States and it was summer and he walked around the house and out in the yard. By the time it was shoe season, he was running and climbing on things--the grandparents just thought it was cute to have him squeaking while he walked so they bought him those shoes--but for him they had no learning value whatsoever because by the time he first wore them he was already quite good at walking as he'd been at it for 4-5 months. Anyway...I like the normal shoes.

haha i'd prefer shoes that lights up. After a while squeaking shoes would get really annoying. Cute at first though... and for a LITTLE while..
