Dear all working moms

Is there any working moms who has no time to prepare the Linking Memory cards as suggested by Dr Shichida and is interested to buy them instead? I was told that someone lost her during the SARS period and couldn't be able to find another one since then. She has no choice but to take care of her child at home. She started making LM cards for working moms at a very reasonable price.

I bought a set from her and the quality is quite good, at least, it is out of my expectation! I am sure I am not able to do the same even if I have time to do so.

Any mom started the LM card training? How is the progress? I am eager to know the result. I will start it next week, when my baby is recovered from flu.

Hi Kiki

Can you tell me more about the LM linking card? Are they similar to the flash card to help the child's right brain development ?

Want Flash Cards

Hi,

I am doing the math dot cards with my 5 month old baby. I have purchsed Baby Einstein flashcards but want more.

Please contact me directly at [email protected]

Do you know where I can get dots 51-100?

I also want to buy flashcards with both English and Chinese characters+ pinyin. I prefer good quality cards that are a bit more complicated.

Thanks.

Hello Karinmm

Linking Memory is one of the theory used by Dr Shichida for child's right brain training. It is very popular in Japan (of course) and now, they have Shichida schools in Singapore and Malaysia as well. Unfortunately Shichida method is only taught in Japanese school in HK. So a lot of mothers are trying to search material to train their child on their own. Linking memory is being one of them to train the child's memory and creativity.

There are 100 LM cards, each of different pictures and are to be used to make one story. The story is set already, so what mom needs to do is to take the card and read a sentence of the story everyday, then add one the other day until it reaches the 100 cards.

Do you know anything about this method?

Hi Kiukiu

No I did not know anything about the Shichida method.

But I am currently sending Karina to KinderU for the Little Genius Intelligence Program which is similar to Shichida - it is also about the right brain training.

She has attended 2 lessons so far therefore I can't really comment whether it works or not.

Kiukiu,

May I know how much th LM cards cost and where may I get them?

I started LM with my son (1 yr old) about 4 wks ago. I made up the cards myself. Cannot see any progress yet, ie he does not get it every time.

Would be interested to see your bb's progress. Pls keep me posted.

Karina's mom,

My son also attends KinderU. I guess you already know that to make the program effective, you must also flash at home.

Hi, Emily

How many days your son goes to KinderU every week? We just go 2 days and I am worrying this is not enough. Do you see any progress made on your son?

one more thing to mention, these caeds are laminated and with round corners, so waterproof and therefore safe and suitable for babies. I highly recommend it (though I am not the seller).

More on the Shichida cards

Dear all moms

Thanks for all your queries on the method. It seems that not many of you have heard of the Linking Memory method by Dr Shichida in Japan. I am trying to explain it as below.

This is a method to activate the right brain memory with association. It is actually a fun game that daily participation in this memory game helps the brain shift from the left to the right brain memory. You will need a set of picture cards to teach children with this method. This system utilizes the right hemisphere of the brain and its ability to record, store and recall images in an almost magical way. By linking each image with another and learning to recall the image, you and your child can increase your memory digit span from 1 to 10 to 100 and eventually 1000 and more!

The stories are silly, nonsensical ones which stick well in your mind. You can make up your own story, of course!

They have Shichida Schools in Japan (of course), Malaysia and Singapore but not in HK (actually yes, but only in Japanese international schools). I am currently trying to search for books in English from Japan.

Cheers

Hi,

If you are interested to do LM but have difficulties coming up with the silly stories or no time to do flashing, do check out memory magic cd-rom which will do the silly stories n electronic flashing.

Hi Kiukiu, Jolim and Zebra,

Have you actually tried the magic CD and the LM method? Do they work well with your kids? Would appreciate if you would be kind enough to show me how to do it in person. Pls contact me at [email protected].

I have 2 Shichida books in English. If you would like to have a look, pls email me at my yahoo address.

Jolim,

Yes, I have viewed www.acceleratedchild.com already. But am looking for someone who has done it 'demonstrate' how it is done because I did it with my son who did not responded and I was wondering if I did anything incorrectly.
