To all ladies who are trying to conceive,

I have been trying to conceive for a few months now and heard that the OPKS (Ovulation predictor kit/ strips) really work. So I went to purchase one from local Mannings and they are quite expensive. It's $266 HKD for 5 days, so about $55 per each strip.

Then I found this place on the internet and got 50 strips from there for only $8 each!!! (including international shipping and they are willing to ship from North America to HK). And it took them less than one week to ship to me. Packing was just like a friend's package so the confidentiality issue was handled very well if you mind. If you know someone who lives in North America that can bring them to you (not sure Canada or USA, you need to check), you can get them for about $3 HKD each!

I just want to share with you this good site for those of you who wish to try with these strips.

Good Luck to you all and to myself too. =)

Heard that you can get them in China cheap. Has anyone seen them an know where they're available?

At Watsons and Mannings here in Guangzhou, they have a brand name called DAVID's Ovulation kit and sell for RMB28/testing kit

Have not tried it personally as intructions are all in Chinese

have seen and bought DAVID's in HK, bought it at a pharmacy in SHeung Wan at about $5 per strip - works like any ovulation kit I have used before and don't notice a difference in accuracy. Lots of TCM doctors recommend this brand though.

Can't remember the name of the pharmacy - its actually a TCM shop on Wing Lok Street in Sheung Wan, near the MTR exit.

I think when I get off the MTR Wing Lok Street exit ( there should be a Maxim's cake shop and a Convenient store inside the MTR at that exit) , you would turn left and it should be the first TCM shop on the same side of the street) selling herbal medicine and also other drugs. its pretty large and is normally quite busy ( and its got that musty chinese medicine smell)

I was seeing a well known TCM doctor who recommended me to get the strips there.

I went to the store in Sheung Wan and bought a few strips. The price is now $10/each.

Konradsmom, would you happen to have a packet on hand? There are 4 sample results on the back, which one is the correct one?

Thanks!

Went to the place in Sheung Wan, it's great and very easy to find. They have those strips for sale, it's gone up to $10 per strip now. But definitely much cheaper than those in Mannings. Thanks so much for sharing that info.

Hi, I have been trying to conceive for a long time, I used to buy those ovulation testers in Watsons, cost a fortune. A few months ago, on a trip to China I have found that David ovulation testers selling in the local drug store, much much cheaper, I bought one box of 100pcs, only cost a few hundreds dollars. If anyone want some, I can share with them, just send me a PM. I guess it will take me a long time to finish the 100pcs.

I used something called Maybebaby. It worked quite well with my previous preg. I am planning again soon so will be using that instead of the strips.

Wonderful/Joyce,

Have you managed to figure out the David instructions on the back? I figure I should be ovulating this week and will take my first test in the next day or two.

Oh yes, There should be two red lines on the strip if you are going to ovulate in 24 to 48 hours, the upper line is the control line.
1) If two lines are visible and the lower line is the same as or darker than the upper one, it indicates that you are going to ovulate in 24 to 48 hours.
2) If two lines are visible , but the lower line is much lighter than the upper one or if there is no lower line, that means that no LH surge has been detected and daily testing should be continued.

You should not use morning urine, and reduce liquid intake approximately 2 hours before the test. Try to do the test around the same time each day.

Only soak the tester for about 5 seconds, don’t soak it for too long.
Hope this can help.

Got up today, my temp started getting low, I guess I will ovulate in the coming few days. Do you chart your BBT? It is good to use the testers together with your temp charting.

I haven't started charting my BBT yet. I did try and use the David OPK last night. Was a bit lazy to find a cup so just peed on the stick. That didn't work. The entire thing fell apart.:haha:

Joyce what does a single line mean? I'm on day 13 of this cycle and should be ovulating but did the OPK this morning and only got a one line.

Hi TTC#2,

Sorry for the late reply, I did not have time to check. single line means that you have not ovulated. The single is the control line, if you are going to ovulate, there should be 2 lines.

Joyce, Thanks for your reply. I never got 2 lines. I wonder if I was doing something wrong or didn't ovulate this month. Will try again next month.
