Selecting a Paediatrician

My baby is due at the end of the year. I figured it is probably a good time to start looking for a paediatrician. Can anyone recommend one that they are really happy with?? What is the norm? Do parents usually meet with the paediatrician first and what questions should i prepare myself to ask (obviously first time mom)? Any info is much appreciated.

Hi Avi,
I can recommend Dr Ou. She practices in DB (Island Health). She's very calm and friendly. She has an excellent rapor with the children including being able to give my 2 year injections without him creating a fuss. She also has little tricks for my 4 month old like getting me to breast feed whilst she has an injection so again no fuss.
In my case I didn't meet her before hand; the first time we met was in the delivery room at the Matilda. Hope that helps,
Jools

Hi Jools,
Does Dr. Ou practises on Hong Kong island? If so do you have her contact number. I take it DB stands for Discovery Bay and I do not live on DB.

Hi Momo,
I think she also practices in Repulse Bay but I don't have a number. Yes DB does stand for Discovery Bay. I am seeing a friend tomorrow who knows where she works at Repulse Bay so I'll let you know.

Hi Momo,

She practices in the Shui On Building in Wan Chai ( across from Grand Hyatt) in Lucy Lord's office.
Here her number for that office 2824-0822

Dr Leo Chan is good too, he has 2 connecting offices in central one for check up only so that the kids won't get sick waiting in the reception area
his address is
The Children's Clinic
901 Manning House, 48 Queen's Road Central
2525 5755

I have heard good things about Dr. Leo Chan too but was told that it is difficult to get an appointment with him because he is so busy. As you know with kids normally one needs a last minute appointment.

The nurese will ask you to go to the clinic and wait without appointment if it is an urgent case.
The best thing about Dr. Leo Chan is that he will not give your kid any medication only if he / she really needs it. So I feel comfortable to bring my daughter to see him even if I am not sure if the case is serious or not. This typically happens to new mum like me. He will teach you some natural way as treatment instead of medication which I think is good to a baby.
