Seeking advice on vaccination

Hello - appreciate if someone with similar experience can provide some advice.

Our little one was born in UK and took vaccination under NHS until he was six month old. He moved to Hong Kong when seven month.

Now, the public health systems in UK and Hong Kong have different vaccination schedules.

Vaccination schedule - Vaccinations - NHS Choices

Family Health Service Child Health

So we sought advice from private clinics in HK but could not get definite answers. Some told us they can provide different brands of vaccines with the same effects, but we are still a bit worried. What should we do?

Thanks for your help in advance.

In the UK there is the little red baby book. Inside there should be a page on the type if vaccinations needed at 1 years old. I would call your GP clinic in the UK and ask them what brand they use. My baby was born in the UK too and the Nurse was very helpful.

my kids have only been vaccinated here... just give the public clinic your current record. they can tell you which ones your child is missing (for living in asia, not in the uk) and then you can decide from there.

really, have never found the need to spend thousands on private shots when they are available through the public system for free.... but that's just me.

Morning ladies!

My kids were born here and have followed the Hong Kong schedule too.

The UK schedule is very comprehensive but the BCG vaccine (for tuberculosis) seems to be missing.

I checked when I was in The UK. My baby only needed BCG because we were heading to China and Malaysia. Hep B was not given because she did not need it.

I checked with my friend, a nurse, that works for a Pedo and she said in Hong Kong Hep B is a must. Most Kindergarden's will ask to see the vaccine record to make sure that that jab has been taken and up to date.
