Sanya vs. Koh Samui (or others) - w/toddler

We want to plan a quick (4-5 days) trip with our 2yo next month. We would love to find a nice beach resort with nice facilities for parents and kids that isnt super crowded - a nice beach is a must :) . We are thinking maybe Sanya or Koh Samui, but would be open to other suggestions as well.

1) Any suggestions for locales and hotels?

2) Should we use CX Holidays, or can someone recommend a travel agent?

Thanks so much. :)

I highly recommend Sanya's Hilton Hotel. Wonderful hotel and facilities. Plus if you get bored with their food, Marriott and other hotels are just right next door with lots of restaurants and options. They have great stuff for kids too. We booked ours through Dragonair Holidays.

To be frank, I thought Sanya sucked, unless you happen to loooove China and/or are Russian.
I haven`t been to Ko Samui but I lived in Thailand for 3 years and I think it`s a great place to visit. Ko Samui will be nice for sure, as long as you find a less crowded resort. Food is great, Thai people are great, they love kids, especially white kids.
I used Lotus Tours in HK (canton rd) just for tix once but I know they have tons and tons of packages. A nice and hardworking agent there is Miranda.

Thanks for the suggestions and advice. Any thoughts on Ritz vs. Mandarin in Sanya, or Rasa Sentosa in Singapore? :)

Thanks again. :)

We went to Ritz Carlton Sanya in May with young kids and inlaws and loved it. Beautiful beach, child friendly, excellent food and service. Planning to go again our next hol.

I've never been to Sanya but a friend of mine went after the swineflu stuff started and found the way they were dealing with temp checks etc. just awful. One of the women she was with had a slightly elevated temp (by China standards) she was quaranteened (not a bad thing to stop the spread of disease) but the way she was treated and where they put her during that time was not good at all. Their bad experience has made me not want to go to Sanya. Or to go when the swine flu thing is a little more sorted.

I mean, you`d only really like Sanya if you stayed at the Ritz. It would be like not being in China at all. I stayed at some random `4-5 star` chinese resort and it was not what one would expect at all. Sanya is China, bottom line, palm trees or not. Although the locals are MUCH MORE RELAXED than anyone else I have encountered here or on the mainland.
