Rotavirus vaccine

Few days ago, my little one got his 6 in 1 and PCV10 vaccine. At the clinic, the doctor asked me if I would also like to give my baby the rotavirus vaccine. Since this vaccine is not required by the government, I am just wondering if anyone has that vaccine given to their little one, and if it is recommended.

I never gave it to my daughter.. but was not offered it. Is there some sort of recent increases in cases of it?

I'm from Europe and as it is required in my country I gave my son his first dose at home and the second one here. The rota virus gives your baby diarrhea and vomiting. Supposedly the risk with this virus is dehydration. We travel a lot and I felt better for giving him this immunization. In the US it is required, but not in the UK.

It's also required in Australia (our home country), I believe. So we got it for our daughter too. I figure better safe than sorry!!

My son got the virus when he was eight months old and it was not pretty (we were in UK). He was in hospital at the time suffering with pneumonia and there was an outbreak in the hospital. One of the symptoms is severe diarrhoea that smells "cheesy".
