right toys for toddlers?

Hi. I am a mother of a toddler and my friend's son who happens to be a toddler as well will be celebrating his birthday in the coming weeks. I wonder what would be a good gift for him. Looking forward to hear your tips. :flower:
 
Playdough! My son's just turned 2 and LOVED his new play dough set. He's old enough to know not to eat it and loves all the shapes it can make. It's also turned out to be a great way to teach him his colours- he learnt several in the first week of playing with it! As a teacher to 5 year old, I also know that it's popular with kids up to that age too! :)
 
My little boy (2 years old) is crazy about buses and trucks - a cliche I know but a gift of a vehicle always goes down well with him. Cooking sets haven't gone down so well with both my kids.
