Hi,

I have a sofa that needs to be Re -upholstery, Hongkong?

Any good stores/companies to recommend please? Also, average cost...

Thanks alot.

When I was looking to upholster a sofa a couple of years ago (L shaped) quotes I got were around $4000-5000. Which I felt was a bit steep. I actually had covers, but they were made really poorly and were very loose. Eventually I just took the covers to Shenzhen, gave them to the store in the Mall. Explained to her this is what I needed, but this was the wrong size. She gave me diagram, telling me how to measure my sofa, and I emailed her all the measurements. My new covers, came out much better than the original. She charged me 1700 Rmb

Hi Rani,

Wow!! I looked up previous threads and didnt see this one... Thanks -- this is really helpful. You're the BEST!!

I have an L shaped sofa badly in need of reupholstery. Has anyone a recommendation for who might do that for me. The Mr Siu mentioned below sounded great, but I can't seem to raise him... perhaps unsurprisingly in view of the age of the posts. Thanks.

Russ did you want someone locally or are you ok to go to Shenzhen?

I bought an Ikea day bed and got a sofa cover made from Sky Curtain in Shenzhen Lowu mall. He was very reasonable.

Also, the L sofa that I previously got covers for, I had it re-upholstered by a workshop in Aberdeen 3 years ago. They stripped it first and put in new foams and cushions. I chose the fabric from one of their suppliers, and it was sent to the workshop. Cost me about $10K which is what I originally spent on the sofa 14 years ago. It was custom made from a shop in Wanchai. It was never made well, and the Aberdeen workshop said it was made in China.

Let me know if you would like the contacts of the Aberdeen workshop.
