Hi, just hired a helper for the first time and she has asked me to remit money to Indonesia on her behalf.

Where's the best place to do it?

Thanks.

Western Union in Melbourne plaza (Central) may be a good place to look at transfering money. The person at the receiving end may need two forms of ID if I recall.

You can use the indonesian bank BNI in causewaybay. I did once, and from i can remember it did not cost much. And it is a safe choice since this bank is one of indonesian goverment bank. The detail is as below:
Bank BNI,
Address : Flat/RM5 on G/F, Nos 1-7 Keswick Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong,
Tel. 28908082.

You can send money through Western Union but they have a service charge.

You'll need her ID (or yours if your doing it on her behalf) and the person who is collecting it's ID.
You can give them a ring before you go and ask what you will need exactly, how much the service charge is etc.

Western Union - 2117 9088

Forgot about BNI - that is a good way to remit too. Did not recommend them in my earlier post as I was not sure if the person on the receiving end needs to have a bank account with them.

Also forgot about Hong Kong Post's remittance service.
