Registering at Public Hospital outside catchment area

Hi all,
Wondering has anyone registered at QMH public section who doesn't live on the Island (in the catchment area). I delivered my 1st there last year but was transferred in from POW half way through pregnancy. Don't want to deliver at POW for this one so wondering can you just register at their clinic with ID etc ... or will they turn you away back to your local hospital?
Thanks

My understanding is that unless you are referred to that hospital from elsewhere the only way to register at QMH or any other hospital outside of your catchment area is by presenting proof of residence for a place within that catchment area. This means bringing a bill or other important mail with your name and address on it to the hospital to prove that you live in the catchment area. Other than that, I don't know of any other way.

Happiness, I'm trying to find out how to do this too. I gave birth at POW for my last one too, and really don't want to go back. I'll let you know if I discover anything useful.

I was registered at Tuen Mun for the birth of my daughter but my OB wrote me a referral letter to go to QMH or POW. Queen Mary did not accept it, but I only spoke to them by phone (did not go in person to try to register). POW accepted the letter without question.
It might be worth getting the letter and heading up there to see if it would make a difference.

Good luck.

Thanks for all the advice ladies. Liquorice, will try and get some more information too & let you know if I find out anything of any use.
