Registering a Birth at Shatin...... question

This is the second time round, but two years a long time ago.

I've been reading the government website, it says you need to make a appointment to register a birth, but due to time frame issue (again) im worried that when i do try to book a slot it'll be weeks ahead. And obviously i cant book in advance becuase it asks for the date, time and etc details of the birth.

Im sure last time i as allowed to go to the shatin register office early in the morning queue up, direct cantonese translation (token) a x amount is dished out everyday, you then take this upstairs and you are given a time slot on the day later on.

Can anyone confirm this is still happening?

Also on the same day you do the birth regristration, you can also apply for the HKSAR Passport? On the website it mention about a trialling period..... but doesnt say if its stopped yet.

Cheers.

Hi pobox557,
It is better to make an appointment before going there, once you have given birth, you can do it online or phone call.
Yes you can apply the HKSAR passport on the same day.
