Recurrent Unrinay Tract Infection, Please recommend a good doctor

Hi All,

I am a female living in Tung Chung. I have had Urinary tract infection in the past but have been experiencing repeating symptoms in past 4-5 weeks.

. frequent urination.
. slight pain in lower abdomen
. lowe fever 99-99.9 F , not daily but 2-3 tmes a week

I have seen doctors in Tung Chung and DB and they said its fine (did not do any test) and asked me to come back if the symptoms persist.

I am travelling outside HK on 17th June and really want to get well before that. Can someone please recommend a good specialist for me? anyone in central, tst, kowloon, tc, db is ok (i am willing to travel ).

I don't think you need a specialist - sounds like you just need to see a better doctor. Or at least tell them how long your symptoms have persisted. They should give you some antibiotics. Also in the meantime drink cranberry juice, and lots and lots of water.

I think you should see a doctor again.(perhaps a different one though) Checking for a UTI is really simple. You just need a urine sample and then they check to see if there is blood in your urine. I can't believe they didn't just do a test. I'd increase the amount you're drinking and second the advice on drinking cranberry juice although because you've had it so long that it probably needs antibiotics if it is a UTI.

You know your body and I would encourage you to be firm with the doctor and say that you would like tests to find out what it is. It helps to go with a list of things it could possibly be (other than a UTI).
 
I'd also go to see another doctor and sounds like you probably need antibiotics to get through this time. And on-goingly, do you wear panty-liners(those small pads)? They will keep you dry and are more hygenic as you can change them any time during the day!
 
gee definatly agree with others, you just need a better doctor! Cranberry juice or supplements may help in meantime. I had similar problems, and test after test showed it was not an infection that required antibiotics so my doctor just gave me some potassium citrate solution which I found was brilliant .
 
Thanks for the help. I went to see a doctor and he did urine and blood tests. Which turned out to be fine so he said there is no infection as such and no need to do scans of kidneys etc . Does it sound ok? Another cause he mentioned was that it might be due to the contracepttive coil I am USO (diaphram) I got it 2.5 years back. Hevsaid it needs to be changed every 2 years. Has anybody experienced any infections attributable to the coil? Does it increase chances of infections. I am planning to get it removed for now. Please recommend a good gynaecologist . Can I just take appoinment, go and get it removed? Or is it more complex than this? Thanks again!
