Recent Tsan Yuk/Queen Mary experiences

Yes all good so far here too thank you (only 8.5 weeks though so very early days). Can I ask how many weeks you were when first went to Tsan Yuk? They have booked me for when I am 11 weeks. Is hat early enought to still have he NT scan/test?

The day I was booked in to register I was 11 weeks, 5 days according to my last menstrual period. They booked my NT test for that afternoon as I was in the "window". When they did the scan in the afternoon they measured and baby only measured 10 weeks and 3 days. They didn't do the blood test and made me another appointment as it was too early, the NT testing must be done between 11 weeks and 13 weeks 3 days or something like that... I went back on Friday for the testing and I think I was 12 weeks, 2 days or something (have lost track a bit now cos it changed, also 2nd time round I'm so busy with my daughter I'm just not keeping up with keeping track [emoji12])... Was quite nice to "score an extra scan", always nice to have an extra opportunity to see bubs :)

Thank you to all that have responded with your experience in QM, it's reassuring to know that despite all the little inconveniences and frustration you would still choose to deliver in QM again. :) think we will most likely go on public route and save the funds for our kids.

Once again, thank you so much for all your sharing!

Can anyone recall what I will need to bring for my registration at Tsan Yuk? I wrote it down and have misplaced that paper (preggo brain strikes).

I'm guessing HKID and passport and Dr referral.

-Valid Hong Kong Identity Card (For those without, please bring along valid travel document,
- Spouse's identity document and marriage document [copies are acceptable] ) Note 1 Note 2
- Proof of address dated within the last 6 months
- Result of pregnancy tests
- Antenatal record (if available)
Completed First Registration Form
- Urine sample (supposed to be first pee when you wake up. but some ladies have pop to the toilet at the clinic. bring a small bottle to collect it.)

As above, but I didn't need marriage certificate, just hubby's ID copy. Also, you don't need the urine sample first time for registration, only at the first check-up.

So it was:
- ID card
- Spouses ID card
- referral letter from a doctor
- proof of address

You arrive, give them the paperwork at the registration counter. Then the nurse will take your weight, height and blood pressure. You'll then see a midwife who will ask you a bunch of questions... After that they take blood for all of the tests. Then you wait to be called to make appointments for the first check-up (which will be with a doctor) and ultrasound... If you are already in the right time for the NT testing they may send you for the ultrasound that day otherwise they will make another appointment... You don't see a doctor, only midwives... And they don't check heartbeat or do ultrasound unless they send you for NT testing straight away... Lots of waiting inbetween each step!!

Question - i'm currently at week 30 and having fortnightly checks at Tung Chung which feeds into Queen Mary. I've only been to Queen Mary once for the blood glucose test. Will the fortnightly checks continue at Tung Chung until I'm ready to give birth at Queen Mary or will there be a point in time in the next month where I start having checks at Queen Mary? Thanks

Can anyone tell me when have the detailed anatomy ultrasound scan at Tsan Yuk? I had the NT ultrasound when registered few weeks ago. My next appointment is beginning of July when I will be 16w5d - will I have the ultrasound then or not til ext appointment when I'll be about 20/21weeks? Also will Tsan Yuk tell you the gender of you want to know? Thanks

They will schedule your detailed scan for around 20 weeks. I have mine on Monday, I will be exactly 20 weeks. We're hoping to find out the sex, will let you know if they let us know...

Sorry if this is a silly question... Which doctor needs to do your referral letter for registration at tsan yuk? Just your usual gp?

A GP can write the letter or if even your current OBGYN if you've seen a Dr already.
