Question re bringing own helper to HK

Hello there. We will be relocating from Taiwan to HK soon and would like to bring our helper. Could she enter HK on a tourist visa in the short term then convert this into a domestic helper working visa subsequently? I don't mind if she needs to exit HK and re-enter. Macau/Shenzen is a short trip away.

When we moved to Taiwan, we had to send her back home then sponsor her over to Taiwan - a process which took a couple of months and was painful. I'm hoping HK is more flexible.

Thanks.

Hi, I noticed that noone had answered your questions and I can not be of much help.

Has she contacted her embassy in the country you are currently in? Alternatively, try contacting immigration in HK as they were helpful for me once I got to the right department.

Good luck with the move.

hi winnie.we went thru the same situation.we brought our helper from singapore (she being an indonesian got a tourist visa on entry for 30 days) and started her visa process here thru a maid agency.she had to go to macau twice during all this process...first time just for the extension of visa and the 2nd time to enter HK with her proper employment visa.hope this helps....
