QMH Semi private room and midwife

Hi Moms! New at The group and sorry if those have been asked previously! Going for my first pregnancy through public and planning delivery at QMH, I do have couple of questions and uncertainties.. Would you recommend a private midwife for pre-post delivery? Any thoughts of semi private room at QMH such as fees and booking procedure? Appreciate if anyone can share her experience! TIA :)

Yes if you're going through QM its nice to have a private midwife for post delivery, and you can also consult her pre-delivery. Annerley, has a package for this called Best of Both and includes prenatal care, scans and more. antenatal and postnatal clinic | Annerley - Pregnant in Hong Kong? Pregnancy, checkups, antenatal classes and birth support You can pop into their free workshop every Friday and speak to the midwives etc.

A Mother's Touch also offer similar care, A Mother's Touch | Pregnancy & Birthing Specialists Hong Kong and you can register for a Free session on their website too.

Semi Private care at QM can be very expensive and sometimes cost more than a private hospital.

If you're going to QM would recommend sticking with the free public care. If you have maternity insurance, then opt for a private hospital.

For semi private room at qmh, heard it is not more than 3,000hkd per day with more flexible visit hours, still trying to get hold off someone at the hospital. Have a lovely day! Hazal
 
The problem with semi private is its not just the room fee. They go back and charge you semi private for all antenatal appointments, labour and delivery and then for aftercare too... I've heard the cost is similar to going private
