QMH hospital bag dimensions

Hello

Does anyone the dimensions of the hospital bag permitted by QMH?

They seem quite strict on bag size but in the information they gave me I cannot find details on the actual dimensions they allow.

Thanks!

The lockers are tiny and you won't be able to store a bag inside. You'll need to unpack everything. Not sure if you're allowed to store a small carry on under your bed. Basically I would bring the smallest bag possible, with the bare essentials.

Good luck!

I don't think there is a restriction. I've seen people bring in tiny suitcases to duffel bags.

I don't know if they give you actual dimensions, they definitely don't check and aren't bothered by what you bring... I'd say the smaller the better... I had a small suitcase that I normally use as carry on luggage. It didn't fit in the locker so had to be kinda next to/kinda under the bed (it didnt fit all the way)... Along with the baby cot next to the bed everything was pretty tight! I asked for early discharge so only stayed one night and didn't need much, hardly even touched what I took... next time ill take far less stuff!!!

10x15x20 inches. They will give you a card that stated the bag size when you reach your third trimester and being sent for QMH for antenatal care.
By the way, where can i find maternity underwear and pads?

you can get the pads at the hospital... i never had "maternity" underwear... just wore my regular ones.

You can get disposable underwear at most supermarkets. However, these are not western size and even the XL was a bit tight for me... I just used my normal, older underwear... The maternity pads are even sold at a lot of wellcome/taste/park n shop supermarkets...

I bought maternity underwear once from a specialty store in Central. What a waste of money. They were expensive and uncomfortable.
Now well into my second pregnancy, I use old undies whose elastics have stretched out, or I buy some cheap cotton panties a size bigger than I usually take.
Maternity pads can be found in almost all major supermarkets and chemists.

As for the baby bag -- the first time around, I brought EVERYTHING. And even though I was in hospital for 5 days due to complictations, I barely used anything inside. Many of the online lists -- which are maybe written for Americans with big hospital wards and their own cars -- are a bit useless. Yes, some women like to have their favorite pillows, make-up kits, massage oil, imported bottled water, etc - but none of this is essential.

This time I am bringing one small duffel with:

1. HKID, wallet, hospital registration papers, birth plan, etc.
2. Undies, nursing bras, socks, long t-shirts. (They have gowns & slippers - never mind what they look like)
3. Maternity pads
4. Basic toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste. No make-up or extras except for one lip gloss / balm.
5. Box of granola bars / crackers & cheese
6. 1 Kindle or iPad (instead of the PILE of books and magazines I lugged around last time)
7. Mobile and mobile charger.
8. 1 set newborn clothes / swadling blanket.

OK, it's not glamorous to wear their maternity gown, or to drink boiled warm water and eat hospital food. But my view is to be as light as possible.
When I husband arrived to help me check out, he brought me one change of clean clothes. And that was it.
Good luck!!!

If you're going public, you might also want to throw in a roll of toilet paper, plastic water bottle, extra maternity pads and newborn diapers.
