Hi

Just wondering if anyone does the same as me? When we stay in a hotel we tend to put our wee man's cot in the bathroom. It's dark in there and he wont get interrupted by us watching TV and eating room service (or the babysitter!).

At the weekend, we had a little trouble as the cot that the hotel had provided wouldn't fit into the bathroom...I went into immediate panic and got housekeeping to find me a smaller one. The poor guy that brough it must have thought I was totally bonkers when I asked him to put it in the bathroom!!!

Just wondering If I'm alone in this oddity, and what others do when sleeping in hotels?

Kat

What a strange this to do! Personally I find it rather repulsive. Would never enter my mind. Would you put your matress in a (strange) bathroom? Yikes!!

I don't think it strange at all. Is just another room (a dark one at that). We don't use the bathroom before he goes to bed. And in lots of hotel bathrooms, the toilet is divided from the rest of the room.

He's not on the floor. He's in the cot.

yes, if it meant I slept better, I would put my mattress in the bathroom.

Katboo,

Good for you that you put your little one in the most unhygienic part of the room.

We all have different standards so no need to get all offended about it!:crib

That would never occur to me. Neither one of our kids ever slept in the a cot, though. They always slept in bed with us and then moved into their own bed. Now when we travel, the younger one sleep with us and the older one sleeps in the extra bed.

Not strange at all, whenever I go away with my little one or go back to my house in UK. I always put baby in separate part of room, i:e walk in wardrobe or hall, havent tried bathroom yet, but would if I had too. My reasons are just like yours not wanting to disturb baby AND bigger reason, not wanting baby getting used to seeing my husband and I in bed beside him. Also bathrooms are generally the most hygenic places in the house/hotel, lots of bleaches used to clean toilets etc and steamed cleaned everytime you have a shower.........so probably the cleanest place to put a baby!!!!!

Nursie, not offended in the slightest! although, when you speak so scathingly, it would be easy to see how I COULD be.

aprilbaby - you are SO right. the bathrooms are certainly far cleaner than the kitchens are. I know for a fact that he would not get the 12 hours sleep he needs if he slept in the room with us.

Dear all

Sleeping in the bath room must be amazing. However, talking about the hygien in the bathroom, if the hotel bathrooms share the same exhaust pipe, and the toilets share the same drain pipe, then the air inside might be not as clean as imagined. Anyway, if the toilet is in a differnet room, it's not a big problem. does anybody still remember the SARS breakup in Hong Kong? And many patients got affected in the same residential building? The disease spreaded so quickly because of the shared vent pipe in the building. It's quite common in the building design.

Never crossed my mind!

When we travel, two sleeps on extra beds and the youngest one sleep with us, adn we can still watch TV.
At home, the youngest one can still nap, even when her sister is having a friend over for a playdate.

All our children are used to sleep with noises around them. It'll be easier in long run - not having to keep everything quiet when the little one is sleeping.

D could also sleep with the TV on. I would be afraid to put the cot in the bathroom, reason being we had a pipe burst in our bathroom a couple of years ago while we were sleeping and our entire flat was flooded by morning.

Must say I have never heard of anyone putting their baby to sleep in the bathroom but hey whatever works for you. I would never sleep in a bathroom myself so I cannot imagine making my baby do so. As far as TV is concerned well we simply don't watch TV when baby is around.

I think the poll results speak for themselves.
This being a registered forum has spared you many more scathing remarks.

Not sure why you thought you could take the liberty and post my question onto an unregistered site......USING MY NAME! if you wish to gain others opinions on such sites, use your own name.

Folks,

A couple of issues here.

1) Zen, The poll should not have been copied and pasted into another site, specially using another members name.

We run GeoBaby as a community site and encourage positive responses (well, mostly positive) to members concerns. Insults and unproductive responses have no place on GeoBaby. Overall, this encourages members to be more positive, friendly with each other and supportive.

Many of our members know each other and personal friendships have been formed as a result of our moderation and forum policies.

Copying a post into a forum where you know the member's issue is going to be attacked, specially with nicknames and other information is in my opinion inappropriate.

2) KatBoo, sorry about this ... I hope we can forgive, if not forget and move on.

I'm closing this thread down...
