do vaginal/internal exams? I am now 30 weeks, had an appointment today, have another in 2 weeks. When do they start checking to see if you are dilated/effaced etc? I just want to be, um, prepared when the time comes. :)

Thanks!

i'm 35 weeks. i've gone to QMH for both pregnancies. i haven't had an internal exam yet. i'm due to give birth next tuesday!!! YEAH! (by c-section)

with my first they didn't do one until it became a possiblilty that i would be induced due to pre-eclampsia. then they did an internal to decide if i was "ripe" for induction. when they foudn that i wasn't they did an emergency c-section.

they did mine at 8 weeks but didn't 'go downtown' again until i was 36 weeks. from 36 weeks onwards, they did an internal exam each week.

good luck with your delivery!

actually I delivered 4 weeks ago, now. :) And they never did check me until I went into labor. I asked a couple of times at my appointments and got varying answers, the last of which was "We don't do that unless you go past your due date because it might be too uncomfortable for you." Hmmmmm..... ok.....

they did an internal on me at my first appointment there which was 30 weeks....although not sure if I'm a special case because expecting twins

I remember quite a few..I wonder why?

The ones checking for dilation, though, were only once I was admitted to the labour ward.

Yeah, they aren't fun! Once you have had the baby though, you can face anything.
