Public hospital length of stay for c-section

Can anyone tell what the average length of stay in a public hospital is for a c-section. I realise that every case is different and in private hospitals 5 days is the norm but wondered if the public hospitals were the same?

i was in for 2 weeks prior to my delivery by emergency c-section... afterwards though they had me go after 3 days...he was born on saturday and they had me go on tuesday. i didn't really want to go yet as i had to make my way back there on wednesday. when i do it all again next year, i'll insist on staying until they remove the stitches, saves A LOT of work and hassle and pain if i don't have to walk so darned far (i live in Db and it felt like a mile or so from the ferry to the bus terminus!!!)

It depends on your case. I had the baby late Saturday night, and Iw as released on Thursday - but both I and baby had a few problems. A friend with a C-section at the same hospital stayed one night less. Apparently a lot of it depends on how you cope with getting out of bed, using the bathroom and walking around.

The standard is 3 days, but I pleaded with my doctor to let me stay on longer since my babies were staying in the NICU.

With her first baby, a friend was pushed out the door after 4 days as her bed was needed, despite her protestations that she had to walk 25 mins from the ferry to get to her home on Lamma. It was a very slow trip home! After the birth of her second baby, she was missing her oldest so much and hating hospital so much she left after two days - the walk home was even slower!
