Public Care and Delivery

I am new to HK and would like to become pregnant very soon. I have spoken to a couple of women who used the public system for antenatal care and delivery and said it was good care. I do not have insurance to cover maternity and do not wish to wait the 10-12 months local insurance requires, for medical reasons. I know we cannot afford the full out-of-pocket expense of private care.

Anyone that can give me info and their personal experience with the public system in HK, I would appreciate it greatly! Thank you.

Welcome to Geobaby! There's a ton of information on public hospitals on here. Have a look at the similar threads below, and you can search the forums for "Queen Mary" or "Tsan Yuk" or the names of the other public hospitals. Queen Mary conducts hospital tours on Sat. More info here:

Most women who opt for the public route will also visit a private Dr for additional u/s (public hospitals only do 4 in total) or to answer any specific questions.

Like Rani said, there is already a ton of info on public hospitals on here and if you just do a search. But I've just recently gone through the public system. (My dd is not quite 3 months old yet.) If you have specific questions or concerns, feel free to pm me.
