problems with registration at Tsan Yuk

Hi there,

I am 9 weeks pregnant and want to register at Tsan Yuk. I called the hot line, but staff said that I can't register there as I live in Tung Chung despite that my first baby was registered at Tsan Yuk!! They said this is a new policy that only people live in Central/Western district can be accepted. I work in Central so i's more convenience to have check ups in areas close by Central. Any recommendations? Anyone experience this problem with Tsan Yuk?

Thanks for your advice.

i have heard that the hospitals are getting more strict with this policy.

your employer MUST grant you time off for dr visits. it doesn't matter where you have to go for that visit. so, if it takes you all morning, then so be it. it will most likely mean that you will have to take off either the morning or the afternoon.

oh, yeah, almost forgot...

CONGRATULATIONS!

Could you just fib and tell them you are moving to Central in the next few weeks...? My daughter is 13 weeks tomorrow and I was in Tung Chung right up until I gave birth at did all my appointments at Tsan Yuk. I would just tell them you are moving to the island... good luck!

I am also from Tung Chung and was told the same thing. I am now registered with Princess Margaret Hospital in Lai King. Someone from Tsan Yuk or Queen Mary told us to present a proof of address of someone we know who is living in Central and use it as our address. We didn't do that though.

We also heard the same thing from the "Patient Relations Unit" of QMH.

They wrote that only people living in central, western or southern district of Hong Kong island are eligible for birth at QMH. Not sure how strict this will be enforced but they also mentioned that during the antenatal appointment people must present an HKID card (fair enough) and a "proof of address like gas or electricity" (could mean it is strictly enforced?) as well as the physician's referral.
