Any recommendation on private tutor? Due to swine flu, my 9 months old daughter has not been going to playgroup for a while. she is getting bored at home. Wonder if there is any private tutor i could try. My niece (2 yrs old) will join the session too if a good private tutor is available.

i tutored privately for many, many years... however, now i run a playgroup centre.

i'm just curious what you want the tutor to "teach" your 9 month old?

the whole idea of going to a playgroup with a baby is the social interaction. having a private tutor kind of defeats the purpose. if you take your baby out, talk to your baby, sing to your baby, play with your baby you can do all of what a private tutor can do and save yourself $400-600/hour (this is the going rate for a native english speaking private tutor for 2 children for one hour).

Yes, I tutored privately in NYC and in London mostly for age 5 and older, but like carang, am interested in what your expectations are for your 9 month year old. At that age, it's all about working on motor skills and like carang said - social interaction.

Me too. i have been in teaching kids for 20 years and now having my own, i am so curious why hire a tutor for 9 months old? I guess most of the time we mom notices our babies getting bore is mainly we are so bore staying at home. Ya, call for a playdate or two every week to play with friends' babies for an hour or 2, this is enough for a 9 months old.

I am a first time mother, working and have a 5 months old baby girl. Can anyone suggest what I or the helper can do with her at home? We read her stories, watch baby TV with her, dance, sing and talk. Any new ideas? Thanks

Do you mean you want to hire someone to play with the baby? Why not just play with her yourself, or go out and do some things in the community, like go toKadorri farm or other places

My daughter loves to go shopping too especially for groceries. Its a nice way to educate her about various things for instance fruits and veggies. She loves pushing the cart around and adding things we need to it when I ask her or sometimes by herself.

Hi, my baby is also 9 months old now and I am also looking for a private native English speaking tutor just to play with and speak to my baby for an hour a day, a few times a week. I am a working mom, so my baby is pretty much being looked after by my domestic helper from Monday to Friday. I just want my baby to be exposed to some native English.

Anyone with experience interested? If so, please send me a message. Thanks.
