Hi, I was wondering if there are any Oxford/Cambridge graduates (native english speaker) who is willing to help my children improve their English? If you know of any, can you please inform me please? I really want my children to receive the best possible education.

Hi Charmania,
You sound like a very good Mum who wants the best for her kids!

However you will find that just because someone went to Oxford or Cambridge doesn't mean they will be a good English teacher. I have three good friends who went to Oxford - one is a physics graduate, one is an IT graduate and one is a music teaching graduate.

None of them would be as good at teaching your children English as many others I know who did English degrees or teaching degrees at lesser-known Australian universities!!

Feel free to make this your criteria, but I would suggest that a better place to start would be to look for someone with a degree teaching English as a second language.

All the best!

Thanks HKAussie for your advice. The reason why I am looking for Oxford or Cambridge graduates specifically is because I friend told me that their style of learning in university is the best. I was told that these universities have a tutorial system where students are encouraged to think for themselves instead of spoon feeding them (the university I went to was kinda like that). Independent thinking is very important and I just hope that someone who has gone through the process will be able to help my children do the same from a very young age...of course, that person needs to know how to teach of course...

Private Tutoring by Oxford Graduate (Native English Speaker)

Hello Charmainia

I am very happy to tell you that I might be someone who might be able to help your children.

I graduated from Oxford University and did my secondary schooling in Sha Tin College; an international school in Hong Kong. I am a native English speaker and have lived in Australia and the UK for many years. I love children and have a lot of experience in teaching English (speaking, listening, reading and writing) to young children. Please call me on 91740594 if interested.

Hi, HKAussie,

I do want to find someone who is native English speaking, preferably British accent, female, with good qualifications, experience and patience to teach me English. But my requirement is high, as my English is not very poor (I already have a master degree in a specific professional area and want to improve English further). Grateful if you have any suggestion.
