Hi I read that Prevnar has been banned in Japan due to infant deaths. My paed uses it and baby's getting her vaccination tomorrow. Any other options for this brand?

Can you delay it? According to the papers they are still investigating in Japan.

Anyone know if it was Prevnar or Prevnar 13? Our little guys is due for his next round as well, but this makes me nervous...

According to this link: http://blogs.wsj.com/health/2011/03...fizers-prevnar-vaccine-is-used-widely-in-u-s/ - Japan is still using the old version of the vaccine, not the Prevnar 13 vaccine.

Please also note that the vaccine was tested amongst tens of thousands of children and often in cases like this, even though there may be a risk, overall the risk of vaccination generally is smaller than the risks associated with NOT vaccinating. I would definitely still be vaccinating my kids!! (my youngest just had her 3rd Prevnar 13 shot two weeks ago)
