Hi

I'm a bit confused about preschools and when and how you should put a child's name down. Is there a resource which I can read which tells me the process for ESF vs. International schools? Or does anyone have some guidance. My son is 18 months old and I am stressing that we have already missed the boat by not putting his name down somewhere!

I also want to send my son to ESF school too. According to their website, my son needs to apply durning Oct this year. It is because he was born in 2007 and he is 22mths now. He will goes to an international kindergarten next months for TOTS class in Tai Koo Shing too. The teacher said most of their will get into ESP P1 but I will also try the ESF K1 application. Good Luck.

You should get the Playtimes school guide and check out the playschools/ Kindies on it. If you have preference for a particular school call/ email them or just visit their website to get more info.
Most pre schools take in kids at 18 or 24 months. You can send your child to a playschool anytime you want.
Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong but as per the Govt guidelines to be eligible to go to Kindie in a particular year a child has to be 2 yrs and 8 months old by Oct of the same year. My daughter is March 2008 born and so I will apply for ESF kindie for her in Oct 2010 and she starts going to kindie in Sept 2011. Thats what the Asst Admin told me when I sent her a query.
 
I got my copy from my daughter's playschool. You could call this number 29736131 and get a copy directly. Or else try book stores. Or borrow my copy if you can't get it anywhere :)
 
Oh and PS, I did a search on google and at least found the ESF school which would apply if we stay where we are currently living. Anyone know what Kennedy School is like?

Thanks Neha. I did see that the Kennedy one was only from 5 years and up. Still wondering if it is any good (although things can change quickly at schools if the head teacher/principal changes).

I had also heard a rumour that the ESF Kindy in Sheung Wan was moving to Stubbs Road. Can anyone who is there confirm?

According to the information provided from ESF website, they will move from Sheung Wan to Stubbs Road after CNY 2010.

Hi, Yes my little man goes to Kennedy. Have been a tad disappointed with the school recently. Communication is poor. School started on Thurs, and we still haven't received a single email from the school/Principal welcoming the kids back, or from the teacher. The only reminder that we received that school was starting is from the PTA Mum.

Don't get me started about the H1NI closures last term. The school handled the closure poorly. They weren't prepared. Communication was pathetic. The Gov't has closed schools 3x in the past 5 years and you would think the schools would have some kind of systems in place.

My two cents.
