Preregistering at hospitals

Do we have to do that? I'm at 32 weeks today and haven't even chosen my hospital yet, although I'm veering towards Canossa. Is it necessary to pre-register at the hospital of your choice or do you just show up when it's time and register at admissions there and then. I hope to have a natural birth (no scheduled induction) so that will happen when it happens. If so, doesn't that make pre-registering a moot point?

Hi,
I used the Matilda and although pre-registration wasn't necessary, we did as it saved my husband filling in a load of forms when I needed his support in the delivery room. I had a natural birth too. It just meant that all the information they needed was already on file.

I remember pre-registering at the Adventist. Saved a lot of time for sure. Husband's details, room prefernce and EDD is all they need to know.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll go check out the hospitals this month and pre-register with one of them.
