Hi everyone,

I am 17 weeks pregnant and will be relocating to HK from Tokyo when I am 6 months pregnant in September. I had a caesarian for my first baby and would like to try for a VBAC this time. I understand from previous posts that two doctors who are supportive of VBACs in HK are Dr Lord and Dr Ghosh who both deliver at the Matilda. But I also understand that you have to book in there when you are 9 weeks pregnant. What is the best way to go about contacting the doctors and trying to get into the Matilda and what are my chances of getting in at this late stage?

Thanks for your help!
Rachel

Hi - I came to HK at 16 weeks pregnant in 2007 and with a big struggle Dr Lord got me into Matilda. However not sure what your chances are now 4 years on- best thing to do is contact Dr Lords office and ask them 2824 0822.

Good Luck

The public hospitals are also willing to do VBACs. I had one a little over a year ago and while it was something I was hoping to do, they recommended it and did not push a repeat c-section at all.

Apparently I was very lucky with getting my confirmation at Matilda at 28 weeks pregnant after I just moved here. Maybe the influence (in terms of lots of business $$$) of my gyn's office (Dr. Sally Ferguson at OT&P) helped. You should just try as early as possible to get a bed booked, as you can always repeat the application after they have rejected.
Good luck!
