potty training suggestion/seat recommendation

Hello mummies,

I'm going to start potty train my son. I've heard that for boys, it may be a good idea to simply start them on the regular toilet topped with a potty seat, instead of a standing-alone potty chair. Has anybody tried this approach with success? If so, please share your experience and especially, please recommend a good seat for use on a regular toilet.

we had/have both. my son liked the potty, then graduated to the toilet. my daughter likes the toilet.

just go to toys'r'us and get a seat topper there.

we used both with my son. we had the cushioned toilet seat in the bathroom and a potty in the living room (for when we needed it in a hurry!)
i first off bought a cheap potty which he refused to sit on. it was just small and uncomfortable. I then purchased the baby bjorn one and called it his 'king potty' or 'throne' or something like that...anyway..it is so comfy he would sit on it for ages! I can't recommend it highly enough!!

Aussie Mum - My son likes to spend ages on his Baby Bjorn potty as well. I have to beg him to get off it as he will happily sit on it for 15 or 20 minutes after he is finished!
