Popiah skin....

For frying, I know you can get them from the frozen sections of Park n Shop. For the fresh ones, I would be interested on where we can get those, too! :)

You can find them either at the wet market or the supermarket (both Wellcome & Park N Shop have them). At the supermarket (mainly Wellcome you can find them in 2 sizes, in a red packet).. whilst at markets, find this stall called "Brilliant Frozen.." (i can't remember the last word) - they usually have the bigger size popiah skins, mostly from Malaysia - & they are cheaper than the one in the supermarket........

I'm not sure abt the fresh ones, but at the market you can find fresh wonton skins though :)

Hi Pannekee,

I used to live in North point, it's available at Marble street market (not so sure of the street name, there is only one market there) . I get it from the stall that sells fresh noodles and wanton wrapper, i get it in in the morning. Just tell them "lumpia peh (wrapper). Maybe it's available at north point as a lot of people are hokkien and they eat fresh popiah.

Don't get the frozen one for fresh popiah, not good.

In case you can't find the fresh ones, when I was at uni, we used to use the frozen ones but we steamed them first (the whole stack from the frozen pack) then kept them wrapped in a moist towel... did the trick too :-)

The wet market next to Time Sq and besides the huge overhead bridge.
Go to the store that sell fresh and dried noodle.. I think there is only one such store there.. they have a daily supply of fresh popiah skin but on weekends, it is better to go early like 10am cos they could be sold out like hotcakes!

also, if anybody wants fresh coconut milk or shreds to make onde onde etc.. u could get from this wet market too.. it is a store nearer to the main road and the breadshop. It stocks thai and indon stuffs.. for the shreds u have to ask cos it is kept frozen in the freezer.

Happy cooking

Thank you mamaS! You are my life saver. The shop you are referring to is along 19 Chun Yeung Street, in North point. It's called Shong Hei Noodle Shop and the telephone number is 28063756. Enjoy your popiah peeps!

Hi,

I was wondering, does anyone know where to buy popiah? Not to make but to buy it, I miss them from when we lived in Singapore!
