actually, we've solved MANY of these problems.

1) used to have an arguement EVERY SINGLE meal regarding veggies... then bought DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS and haven't argued since. we started with puree-ing the veg and hiding them and still do it, but my VERY stuborn son has now accepted the fact that he MUST eat them and we haven't had a fight in about 3 months!

2)kids know the routine, we occasionally shake it up with 10 minutes of "movie time" in mummy's bed with mummy instead of stories.

3)who cares, so long as THEY (not the helper) clean them up before bedtime?

4) who cares? my son goes out in spiderman & superman costumes all the time... daughter has only recently asked to wear her minnie mouse costume out. really, does it matter?

Cara, what's DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS - am getting very sick of coating stuff in yoghurt and this sounds good...

DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS by JESSICA SEINFELD

i first saw her on oprah. she uses veg puree in cooking regular food.

ie. dipping homemade chicken nuggets in puree cauliflower or broccoli or sweet potatoes before you bread them (they are yummy!)

using cauliflower puree in chocolate cake (you REALLY cannot taste it!)

cauliflower or sweet potato or carrots in mac & cheese

etc.

the idea is that you KNOW they are getting SOME veg (maybe not a full serving, but at least some). she uses puree in EVERYTHING, including cake icing, hot chocolate and other yummies.

since we started doing it, my helper has put it in almost everything for my kids. i stopped arguing with my son and he started eating everything, including vegetables!

once the fight was gone, he ate them! he still occasionally says, "no veg", but when i say, "yes, veg" he eats it!

I like the superbaby food so my toddler is used to vege taste......but yes, i love DECEPTIVELY DELICIOUS too. I have a few copies at home, brand new, never used. I stock it to give to friends. If anyone is interested, i can sell it cheaply. (sorry rani, just want to help)

i was lucky, i was able to get it from "vegemite_kid" when we were visiting australia. i told her that i wanted to buy it, and she happened to be selling one!
worked out very well, indeed!

we clash over teeth cleaning. has got a bit better of late as he gets a sticker on his chart for doing it nicely.

try getting the book "brush your teeth" i got it from shopinhk and i use it at playgroup.

ALL the kids love it! now, my own two kids are concerned that the germs will get their teeth if htey don't brush.

Another struggle is HAIRCUT for my 2 yrs old boy, anyone knows how to let him have a haircut, just seeing the saloon he whines and cries on the floor. Tried going to another one but same thing, not even stepping inside. I just cut his hair so it's not nice. I bought a razor but hearing it freaks him out too. Any tips or books on this? Thanks.

i had the same problem with my son when he was younger.
it actually took 3 of us to cut his hair, two to hold him down and one to cut.

we decided to do it ourselves. my hubby shaves his own head with clippers, so we had those already. one day, we had our little boy help us cut daddy's hair. we made a big deal about daddy NOT crying. then we gave daddy 10 M&M's for being such a good boy. immediately after, i asked my son if we could cut his hair, too? i told him that he'd get 10 M&M's like daddy if he didn't cry. he let us do it. he still whimpered a bit, but not like before. eventually, we discovered that what he didn't like was (1) the sound of the clippers and (2) the feeling of the hair falling on his shoulders. he still doesn't like the itchy feeling, so i wrap him up in a towel after he's undressed. we cut it in the bathroom, so immediately when we've finished, he jumps in the bath. i find that i still have to do it quickly or he starts to fuss a little.

Hi Carang, is the book that you mentioned a pop up book called Brush Your Teeth Please with a picture of a lion on the front?
Our teeth brushing battles are continuing!

Hi RMP, i have sent you a PM today.

Carang, that's a good tip on cut daddy's hair. We went to a saloon to let him see daddy has a haircut but no luck.
Yes, i now cut his hair with scissors in the bathtub. But i want to use the clippers so it's nicer.
