Matilda! Because of the quality of the nursing staff, the food, the after care etc., the support for breastfeeding, allowing baby and Mum to room together regardless of class of room.
My son was born at the Matilda in 2006 and it was a fantastic experience....when my daughter was born four weeks ago I couldn't get a bed at the Matilda and had to go with the Sanatorium.
It wasn't a bad experience, just not as fantastic as the Matilda.
At the Sanatorium they tried to get me to go to a breastfeeding room everytime my daughter needed feeding- and only after big arguments with them did they allow her to room with me in my semi private room (which had no one else in it).
The nurses at the Sanatorium seemed surprised that, as a 'gweilo', I had opted to give birth there and there was a lot of silent pressure to keep my daughter in the nursery, give her formula until my milk came in (which I refused to do).
They were not as friendly as the Matilda nurses, although professional enough.
Plus the food included in the maternity package is not very nice.
However in terms of medical care the Sanatorium has the best facilities in the event of an emergency.
I had emergency c-sections at both the Matilda and Sanatorium. My stay at the Sanatorium was HK$16,000 cheaper than the Matilda.
