poisons hotline

Hi,

does anyone know if there is a poisons hotline in hong kong, where you can ring up to find out whether someone (usually a kid!) has ingested something poisonous or not.

i've tried googling it, but didn't have any luck.

There is the department of Health 2961 8989, but I'm not sure it's the right place. I would just call the emergency services 999.

There is none, apparently - but if you use Skype and have credit, you can actually call 1800 numbers in the US or Australia for free. I'd just be writing down one of those and trying that... And of course if they're really bad, then call 999. But if in doubt about it, I'd call one of the oseas ones...

thanks nicolejoy, i never would've thought of that. i know there's a poisons hotline in aust (and all my mum-friends reckon they've used it at least once...many of them multiple times!), which is why i thought they may have one here. i really don't like the idea of tying up 999 just for information (but of course i wouldn't hesitate if it was really bad!)
