dr.gosh is not american, but the majority of his patients are ex-pats and americans so he is familiar with american needs, questions and concerns. like dr. ferguson, he is also affiliated with matilda.

I also recommend Dr Lucy Lord, she has a reputation though for not being very warm, but she is also regarded as one of the best at what she does. I am in my second pregnancy and saw her upto around 5 months, at which stage I discovered she was going to be away when I was due. I was very happy with her though (I actually quite liked her matter of fact attitude). Now, I am seeing Dr Alex Doo. Many of his clients are western expats, and I am extremely happy with him. He is a lot more expensive than Lucy ($1900 HK per visit as opposed to Lucy's $950) but for me, it is a small price to pay for comfort knowing he will be there on the day. I think he acquired his qualifications from UK, and his English is perfect (and he has a great personality). On another note, two of my close friends have just delivered in the last month with Sally Ferguson. She also comes highly recommended from them. All three mainly deliver at Matilda. Best of luck.

Do you mean trained in western countries or are we talking about something else that frankly I'm finding a little bit sad? I found my OB by asking people about their own experiences and then meeting with my shortlist and asking questions myself. Yes he's HK Chinese and I'm not. He's got the training, experience and good track record. Who cares where he was born.

Aussie in HK for many many years Dr Dawkins - 7th floor
Jardine House ph: 27154577. I used him and liked his down to earth approach.

Will a Chinese American Doctor trained in the USA be acceptable or does he/she have to be a white person??

Dr Sally Ferguson and Dr Lucy Lord are both good....Dr Ferguson is at Adventist only and Dr Lucy Lord at Matilda and Adventist....Dr Cora Ngai is British trained Chinese...also very good

Wow, he had been in HK for soooo long! I guess a couple of things have changed in the 12 months since I have been away. I have a bit to catch up on.

Rani - I think there may be some flexibility in Dr Lord and Dr Grace Cheung's practice now - I was offered Adventist by Dr Cheung given that Matilda is very hard to get into. The(incredibly!) high deposit at Adventist put me off that hospital though and fortunately I have since been confirmed at Matilda.

Oze Kid - know what you mean - I wanted to use Dawkins second time around and very disappointed he has left. I am using Dr Grace Cheung now and like her. She is English Chinese I believe.
