If any of you are able to, please consider making a donation to the Philippine Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts for flood victims from the recent typhoon.

For ways to donate, please visit the Philippine Red Cross at Philippine National Red Cross - Ways To Donate

The equivalent of a whole month's rain fell in six hours in Manila last Saturday. Waters in some areas rose up to 3 storeys high. Many were left homeless, people died and many are still missing.

Please do consider helping in any way you can. Thank you.

The rainfall brought by typhoon ONDOY to Metro Manila and nearby areas in a span of six hours on Saturday was the most in recorded history, surpassing the previous record for the metropolis in 1967.

Hurricane Katrina dumped over an inch of rainfall in Louisiana for 3 hours and another 0.5 inches per hour over the next 5 hours on August 29, 2005. Ondoy dumped an average of 2.24 inches per hour for six hours... and is still going.

Thank you very much for this, Buckeroo. We are also sending donations in kind (clothes, blankets, towels, diapers, medicines) - pls PM me if you would like to help out in this form.

Any little help will go a very long way....

Thanks, Lavi...I've sent you a PM regarding details of where you can send directly your donations.

Also if any of you know suppliers of diapers or milk for babies and children where I can get at wholesale price, pls PM me. I would appreciate since there is really a lack of these items. I guarantee that the purchase will just be for sending to the Philippines...I have a 6 month old baby and cannot imagine - I refuse to imagine - being in that situation.

you can also donate to:

Abundant Life Christian Ministries Intenational

Hillwood Road,
TST
Tel: 21997706 (church); 64361842 (Faith Asis) and 97477251 (Pastor Arlene Asis).

The church is now open 24 hours for any kind of donation and on the 1st Oct, the youth in the church is having a Relief Event while they are packing and boxing the donations. A few are leaving on Saturday to help out. we have a church in Manila who is now housing more than the building can take in. Do call up the numbers to know more on how you can help. Thank you.

hi rani
a kennedy mum is collecting items for WORLD VISION. if you want, i can come by your home and pick them up. i'm going to be going into kennedy town and buying those "mock crocs" and some other items.

here is an excerpt from the email i received:

If you would like to donate usable old or new clothes both for adults and children, towels, old shoes and slippers/flipflops for children. Childrens clothing is our priority.

Please drop them off our place by Friday morning Oct. 2nd.

I will take care of the shipment to the Philippines and we have assistance from DHL to get items in quickly.

Ms. Miriam Quiambao, a good friend, will be overlooking this project and will make sure that all donations will reach the ones in urgent needs in Manila.

I am only doing goods, as we have a logistics/shipment ability. For cash/credit card donations, please go to World Vision Philippines - Home or Philippine National Red Cross - Ways To Donate and click online donation link

Hi Dimsum mum,

I have some clothes for babies (0-6 months) and children (3-5 years old) and live in Tin Hau. Would you be able to direct me how to get in touch with this mommy in Kennedy Town? I'm alone with a small baby now, and might not be able to get around very much in this wet weather, but will try my best by this Friday.

Cheers....
